TO CARE MED – Interreg Euro-MED expertise ecotourism and experiences - hand toward the sea

Our story

The partnership combines competencies, expertise, and experiences. It has been carefully built to enable a solid approach to attain objectives and effective transfer process.

From UNIVE, which developed the ALTERECO TCCL tool, to CERC, which contributes integrated perspectives to optimize its use for ecotourism, the partnership spans several pilot destinations — including coastal areas (Pula in Croatia, the Bulgarian Riviera the Peloponnesus coast in Greece) rural regions (Murcia in Spain and Molise in Italy), as well as protected areas and lagoons in Portugal. These regions are jointly adopting a strategy based on Carrying Capacity principles to develop action plans for sustainable ecotourism.

The variety of transferring contexts provides added value, ensures further replicability and sustainability.

Partners contribute to peer learning, develop an innovative “cascade training system” to amplify the transfer effectiveness. The training process enriches participants’ knowledge and capacities, creating collaborative clusters for sustainable ecotourism. Partners bring diverse range of experiences, essential to address multifaceted challenges of sustainable ecotourism in MED.

The consortium emphasizes the importance of cultural and natural heritage conservation and is committed to caring about ecotourism sustainability considering carrying capacity. It fosters collaboration at local and transnational levels, with representatives from each partner ensuring a balanced and inclusive approach to decision-making and implementation.
