The participation of the “Tifernum” Union of Municipalities – Molise at the Mediterranean Tourism Exhibition (BTM), held in Naples from March 12th to 14th, 2026, concluded with extremely positive results.
At the heart of the participation was the transfer of the “Tourism Carrying Capacity Tool,” designed to promote responsible and sustainable ecotourism strategies, plans, and services across the Mediterranean region.
A Global Stage for Local Territories
During the three-day exhibition, the Union—comprising the municipalities of Castellino del Biferno, Lucito, Petrella Tifernina, Matrice, and Montagano—had the opportunity to illustrate its active role in the project. In a highly qualified professional context, these small communities were presented as emerging destinations capable of offering high-quality tourism that avoids mass-market pitfalls and remains deeply connected to local cultural and natural identity.
Networking and Future Prospects
“Participation in the BTM represented a fundamental growth milestone,” representatives of the Union commented. “Engaging with international partners and industry experts allows us to acquire new operational tools to foster integrated and lasting development for our region.”
The experience in Naples consolidates the “Tifernum” Union’s position within European cooperation networks, strengthening its commitment to innovative, inclusive, and sustainable tourism development models.
The event is part of a broader programme of local workshops and seminars focused on ecotourism. A series of sessions has been facilitated by UCT local experts, bringing together stakeholders, professionals, and key testimonials to enrich discussions on ecotourism and tourism carrying capacity.
These exchanges aim to provide practical insights and actionable contributions for the development of strategies aligned with the TO CARE MED framework, ultimately supporting a more balanced and harmonious management of destinations. (ref activity 1.4)
It was also an opportunity to host an educational event on ecotourism open to citizens and tourists. (Activity 3,3)
